Changing Matter

I gave each table group a plate of ice.
I told them the objective was to see which plate of
ice would melt the fastest.
You should have seen them blowing and rubbing to change matter.

Reading to First Grade

Ashlyn paid tickets to read to Mrs. Gelles' Class.
They love spending tickets on this.

Johnny Appleseed Week

We had so much fun this week with our Johnny Appleseed Unit.

We performed a Johnny Appleseed Play, graphed apples, made applesauce, learned about tall tales and put a pot on our head and became "student's name" Appleseed in our writing.

.

We told the story of Johnny Appleseed in first person.  Stop by our room sometime and see our great stories.

Making Applesauce

Today we took our apples and made applesauce.

They loved it.  Everybody took a turn mixing in the ingredients.

I put in to much water but it still turned out great.

Yum! Yum!

Trading in Tickets

If you asked the children their favorite part about school they will probably tell you earning tickets and trading them in.
Here they are waiting in line to trade their tickets in for shoes off, bringing stuffed animal, no homework pass and much more.

5 tickets = a penny for the M&M machine.
This was a popular item today.

Changes in Temperature

Today we observed what happens to the thermometer when it is placed in hot and cold water.
