First Week of Second Grade

We had a very fun and busy first week of school.

We read the very popular book Chrysanthemum.  It is about a mouse who is named after a flower and the fun her name brings her.

Using this book we learned our new friends names.  We made a flower garden with our names.  We developed a classroom community that will learn and build memories together.

We explored the world of second grade math by playing math games.  These fun simple games will develop the foundation for the mathematicians they will become.

Did they tell you about our silly band-aid lesson?
We talked about being treated fair vs equal and the importance of everyone learning and working at their own pace.

Our math lessons this year will be very hands on.  Here we are building a large hundreds chart.  It was fun seeing the children problem solving where to put their numbers and working together as a team.

 Ta-Da! We are very smart.

First Day of 2nd Grade

We had a very exciting First Day of School.  I am so excited to watch each of these sweet children grow
and change as a 2nd grader.
We spent a large part of today getting to know our 21 new friends, learning about our new classroom and organizing our supplies.

 Chloe, Melaina, Alli and Jannah
Gabriel, Nathan, Laura and Shelly
 Alyssa, Tyler, Andrea and Anabelle
 Brandon, Ashlyn, Luke and Angel
Elizabeth, Marc, Kyle, Grant, Caleb and Elijah

We had a very special visitor.
Thank your Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD Superintendent for visiting us and being such a great sport and taking a picture.

Welcome

The night before second grade I am to excited to go to sleep. I can not wait to meet my students for this next year. I hope they know that I have created a safe, fun, challenging learning environment for them to grow.
