Super Readers

Congratulations, You read 40+ books the Third Nine Weeks.

What is the MORAL to the story?

Finding a partner is so fun.  We listen to fun songs and dance.
Then when the music stops your find a partner.

Each partner read their story and determined
what was the moral of the story.

Fraction Fun

We had fun today exploring fractions today
using Hershey's Bars.

They were able to break the Hershey bar into 12 parts.

We had fun making up different problems using
the parts to form fractions.

Representative Strickland

State Representative Strickland came to visit Bear Creek today.  We were lucky enough to have him come into my class and visit with the students.
It was AWESOME.  I was so proud of them
He asked them what they learned today.
They told him about an ipad presentation we were working on.  They told him all about the Phases of the Moon.
He asked them "What are the Phases of the Moon?" They proceeded to tell him all about Waning Gibbous and New Moon etc.  He was very impressed but I knew it was the oreos.

Unfortunately, this was at the end of the day Friday
and I had 6 students out.

Phases of the Moon

Yumm Yumm!  Who does not love oreos.
We made the Phases of the Moon
today using Oreo Cookies.

They had fun and learned the Phases of the Moon.

Pie Throwing

Today the whole school came into the gym to
watch pies be thrown at the coaches.
Anyone who collected over $100 for
Jump Rope for Heart was able to
throw a pie at a coach of choice.

Luke and Tyler were the lucky throwers from our class.
It was so funny!!

Project Based Learning

PBL = Project Based Learning
What does this mean?

Well the students are presented with a problem
also called a driving question.

They think about what they know and need to know in order to solve the problem.

Then they used laptops, ipads and books to research.

Then finally they work in groups to make
presentation to present the information they learned.

Everyone worked very hard.  Their projects turned out Awesome.  Hopefully, you were able to come to Student Showcase Night and check it our.
